What is included in my order?
Your order from Designs For Living comes bundled with everything you need to start building - the package includes:
- Six Sets of Bonded Plans
- General Project Notes
- Elevations (front, rear & sides)
- Floor Plan
- Foundation Plan
- Floor Framing
- 2nd Level Floor Framing
- Roof Framing
- Sections
- Structural Details.
- Prescriptive Engineering
- Printing, Shipping & Handling
Can I purchase the .CAD file?
Yes. The CAD file costs $1725 and requires you to sign a build-once agreement.
What is included in the Material List?
The Material List includes a shopping list needed for building the frame and trusses of the home. Because every home, builder, location, and preference is different we include only the bare-bones materials needed. Material Lists are great when used in conjunction with a Study Set to help get accurate bids.
A Study Set is a large format printing of the floor plans and elevations marked "Not For Construction". They are helpful in obtaining an accurate estimate from your contractor or builder.
Is the cost of a Study Set deductible from a full plan?
Yes! When you purchase a study set we will send you a one-time use coupon to receive $300 off the purchase of a full plan.
How long will it take me to get my plan?
Most orders will ship within one business day. All orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Typically it does not take more than 3-5 business days.
What if I need my plan sooner?
Unfortunately we cannot do rush printing and shipping.
Can I modify and/or change a plan?
Designs for Living is happy to work with you to ensure that the home you purchase is the home of your dreams. Please include the plan number and a list of the modifications you would like to make.
Can I have a custom plan drawn?

What is the ceiling height of plan xx-xxxx?
All Designs For Living homes come with 9 foot ceilings on the primary level and 8 foot ceilings on the secondary level.
What is the cost to build plan xx-xxx?
All Designs For Living house plans are created with cost-to-build in mind. We take care to design homes that reduce excess material waste. While it is impossible for us to predict what it will cost you to build a home in your area, our plans generally cost between $60-$70 per square foot. For a more accurate estimate consult with a General Contractor in your area.
Where can I see plan xx-xxxx built?
Unfortunately we cannot divulge information about the location of homes that our customers have built simply out of respect for their privacy.
